Top 5 Coffee Spots Paris 2018

Whether you’re visiting Paris for the first time or living here as an expat, good coffee is hard to find. After spending the past two years trying over 100 coffee shops, I wanted to share with you my favorite picks.

Here is my list of my Top 5 coffee spots in Paris that seriously won’t disappoint!

Terres de Cafe – One of the few true coffee bars in Paris, you will find a beautiful wooden bar with stools as you watch your barista make your favorite cup of coffee. This place is serious about their coffee and they offer Aeropressed, filtered or machine pressed coffee. If you can’t decide, ask the barista for a recommendation as they are all knowledgeable about the coffee and the origins of the beans. I particularly like the cute swinging chairs by the window at the 40 Rue des Blancs Manteaux location. 40 Rue des Blancs Manteaux, 75004 Paris; several locations.

Matamata Coffee – Artisan coffee shop in the trendy Montorgueil neighborhood, you can’t go wrong with the cappuccino or any of their speciality coffee drinks. The baristas take a lot of pride in making their coffee and it’s nice to see familiar faces every time I go. If you’re a carrot cake lover, you have to have a slice as each bite melts in your mouth and reminds you of home.  58 Rue d’Argout, 75002 Paris

Fragments – Hipster coffee shop with a calm vibe and quality coffee. I was so excited to try their cinnamon roll as they are often hard to come by in Paris. Different than the American version with the frosting, I found this version equally as delicious and less sugary. This is the perfect coffee shop to get some work done or catch up with some friends. Food is also available.  76 Rue des Tournelles, 75003 Paris

Cuillier – Great Australian coffee shop with friendly service and yummy coffee. If you’re looking to try something sweet, go for the Pistachio cake with your flat white. Food is also available like avocado toast and sandwiches. Crowded normally at its Pigalle location, I like to grab a coffee and take a walk up to Sacred Coeur for stunning views of Paris. 19 Rue Yvonne le Tac, 75018 Paris; several locations.

Hardware Société – If you could pair delicious coffee with some delicious brunch, you surely have the perfect match made in heaven. Not only was the coffee strong and well made, the brunch completely blew my mind and I couldn’t eat enough of the Fried Brioche aka French Toast. Weekly specials are available and special mention to the pork belly with a fried egg and hash browns. Crowded on the weekends, it’s best to come early. 10 Rue Lamarck, 75018 Paris

  12. Once again, another great post, Rachel! I’m quickly becoming a fan of yours!

    One thing I loved most about Anthony Bourdain was that he always featured local bloggers in his episodes. This only makes good sense. They’re the experts and go-to-people for travelers wanting to “live like the locals” and have an authentic experience in the destinations they visit.

    Your “Top 5 Coffee Spots Paris 2018” sound like they could still be in 2019, too. So, I’ll be sharing this your post with any client visiting the City of Lights on a Seine River cruise vacay.       I absolutely loved Anthony Bourdain as well and was seriously sad over his death. He was the pioneer of travel writing while always staying true to himself and appreciating every culture and person. It was truly a great loss for all of us!

  13. Although I’m not a coffee aficionado, I love your attention to detail and your descriptions made me want to try all these places if I ever get the chance to visit Paris! The pistachio cake looked delicious. I live in Los Angeles and though I don’t go to coffee shops often, occasionally it’s nice to get a change of scenery or get some writing done if I’m in between jobs. Indeed, every coffee shop has a distinct personality. For me, the most important things I look for are not too noisy or crowded, comfortable seating, and good Wifi.

    1. I think the coffee movement has really taken off in Paris and a ton of places offer Wi-Fi in a nice chilled ambience. But it will take a while before it becomes like the States as sometimes they limit Wi-Fi use during the weekends. But overall Paris is amazing and you have to come visit soon =)

  15. Paris has such great spots to relax, enjoy a drink and engage in great deep conversations. I’ve only been twice, but now I look forward to another visit!
